COLOR VARIETY STANDARDS

FOR AOV (any other variety) LIONHEAD RABBITS:

 

BROKEN and TRI-COLORED: All Broken and Tri-Colored animals are to have a balanced nose marking (No preference given for a butterfly over evenly balanced nose spots.), a colored eye marking around each eye, and colored ears. The body color is to be evenly distributed in a potted, patched, or blanket pattern. Preference is to be given to an evenly balanced pattern. The feet are to be pure white. Color spots are permissible on the legs, as are teat spots and other colored spots in the genital area. The total amount of coloration on a Broken patterned animal is preferred to not cover less than 10% or more than 70% of the entire animal.
Faults: Unbalanced nose marking; white on one or both ears; unbalanced body markings; one or more colored toenails; scattered white hairs in the colored markings.
Disqualifications from Competition - Disqualify for absence of a colored nose marking, complete absence of color on either ear, absence of color around either eye; eye color other than called for under respective color descriptions; foreign colored spots. Disqualify for less than 10% pattern. Do not disqualify for white spot(s) in colored sections.

BROKEN: Broken consists of any recognized breed variety color in conjunction
with white. Toenails are preferred to be white. Do not disqualify for mismatched
or colored toenails. The eye color is to correspond with the eye color specified
under the respective solid colored varieties.

TRI-COLORED: Tri-color consists of white in conjunction with one of the
following color combinations of two colors: Dense Black and Golden Orange,
Blue and Golden Fawn, dark Chocolate Brown and Golden Orange, or Lilac
and Golden Fawn. The colors are to be evenly distributed Toenails should be
white. Eyes - Brown in Black and Chocolate varieties; Blue-gray in Blue and
Lilac varieties.

SMOKE PEARL MARTEN: The surface color of the head, outside of the ears, back, outside of the legs, and the top of the tail are to be a rich smoke gray with a slightly lighter undercolor. The surface will fade to a lighter pearl gray on the sides and chest. All blending of color is to be gradual and free from blotches and streaks. The nostrils, eye circles, jowls, inside of the ears, and triangle, collar, back of the fore feet, inside of the hind feet and legs, belly, and the underside of the tail are to be silver-white in color. Prominent silver-white guard hairs are to be evenly distributed, around the chest, sides and lower hindquarters. Eyes - Blue-gray.
Faults: Fault animals that have streaks, blotches, or poor color blending. Mealiness on the head, ears, or body is undesirable. Animals that are too light or too dark are to be faulted. Scattered white hairs, or lack of darker color in the loin area is a fault.

TANS: Black, Blue, Chocolate and Lilac compete together. The head, outside of the ears, front of the fore feet, outside of the hind feet, and the tops and sides of the body are to be of the surface and undercolor as described in the respective self varieties. The nostrils, eye circles, jowls, inside of the ears, triangle, collar, back of the fore feet, inside of the hind feet and legs, chest, belly, and underside of the tail are to be a rich, fiery reddish tan color. The color is to carry all the way to the skin in these areas. Prominent fiery, reddish tan guard hairs are to be evenly distributed around the sides and lower hindquarters. The eye color is to be as described in the respective self varieties.
Faults: Fault animals with indistinct divisions of color and mealiness or brindling on the head and body. Pale tan color on the belly or underside of the tail is undesirable.
Disqualifiactions from Competition - Disqualify an animal for slate-blue undercolor on the belly.

SILVER/SILVER FOX (Black, Blue, Brown or Fawn basic colors.): The basic surface color is to be evenly silvered over the entire body with white or white tipped hairs. Silvering is to be distinct, sharp, bright and evenly distributed throughout. Evenness of silvering is desired. Eyes - Black, Brown and Fawn to be Brown. Blue to be Blue-gray.

STEEL (Gold or Silver Tipping) (Black, Blue, Chocolate, Lilac, Sable, or Smoke Pearl basic color.): The entire body is to be of the basic color description, with color running as deep as possible. Coat is to be interspersed with a moderate amount of either gold or silver tipping, as is appropriate for the variety. The ticking is to forma uniform steel color over the entire body without intermediate gold or silver banding. Underside of the tail and belly are to match body color as closely as possible, but lighter color is permissible. Eyes - Black, Chocolate, and Sable to be Brown. Blue, Lilac, and Smoke Pearl to be Blue-gray.
Faults: Stray white hairs; brassy, brownish or yellowish tint; body color too dark due to insufficient gold or silver tipping; solid color patches without ticking; white belly color; slight ring color on the lower part of the body.

FROSTED PEARL (Black, Blue, Chocolate, or Lilac shading color.): Color is to be a light pearl, carried to the skin, and shaded with a delicate tint of the appropriate shading color. Color is to be evenly distributed over the entire body, except for the belly, which shall be pearl. Slightly darker tint of the points is permissible. Color is to carry enough tint so as to appear frosty. Eyes - Brown or Blue-Gray.
Faults: Poor distribution of tiny; patchy appearance; dark tint on the points.

LYNX: The surface color on the top and sides of the body is to be lilac mingled with fawn. The intermediary band is to be fawn over an off-white undercolor. The chest is to be fawn over an off-white undercolor. The undercolor of the belly is to be lilac. The top of the tail is to be lilac, sparsely ticked with fawn, over an off-white undercolor. The nape of the neck is to be fawn. Eyes - Blue-gray.
Faults: Fault animals lacking the lilac influence in the surface color, so as to appear fawn. The lack of a distinct intermediary band is undesirable.

FAWN: The surface color of the body is to be a creamy orange color, extending well down the hair shaft, and carried uniformly over the head, outside of the ears, front of the forelegs, outside of the hind legs, and the top of the tail. The undercolor is to be off-white. The surface color of the belly (except for the fawn lap spots), back of the forelegs, inside of the hindlegs, top of hind feet, and underside of lower jaw is to be white with an off-white undercolor. The underside of the tail and around the vent is to be white to the skin. The inside of the ears are to be white, while the nostrils and eye circles are to be creamy white. Eyes - blue-gray.
Faults: Fault animals with smutty color showing blue or lilac ticking and ear lacing.

FROSTY: Color is to be light pearl, as even as possible. When blowing into the coat, a slight ring may appear at the tip of the hair shaft. Slightly darker tint on nose, ears, legs, and feet is permissible. Belly color and undercolor is to be light pearl to white. White on the underside of the tail is permitted. Eyes - Brown or Blue-gray.
Faults: Fault for color that is blotchy, too dark in color and showing saddle shading; yellow or stained.
